K'wan Foye:
Poised, Focused
and Still Hood
by Elaine Watkins

October 2007
Dressed in a black graphic tee, dark jeans, boots and a fitted, K'wan looked more like your average college student than the best-selling author he is, as he entered the Urban Book Source Studio. But don't let his cover fool you, K'wan is far from your average Joe, and miles ahead of many of his colleagues in the Urban Fiction industry. With numerous novels and novellas under his belt and an arsenal more waiting in his chamber, K'wan has earned his place in Street Lit history and has pioneered the road for many of the authors who have come after him.
Although years removed from his first blockbuster Gangsta, K'wan Foye, although eloquent as ever is still hood, and no I am not talking about his new novel. Born to a poet/painter, K'wan was destined for creativity from birth. Like most children of the ghetto, K'wan got sucked into the streets before realizing his talent. He didn't start writing until 2001, after a small run in with the law, and a short stint in a county jail. It was in prison that K'wan discovered his knack for storytelling, but even then he didn't pursue his gifts fully and as the story goes Gangsta was written by mistake, and began with a simple argument. Convinced the situation was perfect for a book K'wan did what he does best and flipped his situation into an urban epic, and as they say the rest is history as K'wan has put out hit after hit and promises to keep his track record going with his newest, Still Hood.
