The title of his debut novel says it all, Entrepreneur. Markeise Q. Washington is an inventive, motivated, and determined one-man publishing machine. With the foundation of 5ive Star Publishing in May of 2007, Mr. Washington set out to  change the norm of the industry. With his own novel set up to be first out the gate Markeise aimed to raise the bar. Read on to see what this imaginative young man has to say.
What do you want to be known for in this industry?
Someone that people expect great entertaining stories from. A publisher that puts out quality books and treats my authors how I would want to be treated.
Why should someone spend $10 - 15 on your novel?
People want to be taken to an alternate reality when reading and I think I take them there. My thing is to entertain and create a visual for the reader. Those two factors are most important. You want them to see what you're describing.
Why did you decide to become an author?
I have a huge imagination and knew that I wanted to show my talent throughwriting.
Are there any writers who have influenced your writing? Why?
Yes, K'wan and Mary Higgins Clark; two authors on two different sides of the spectrum. With K'wan his stories are written like your standing there watching it. With Mary Higgins Clark, her stories are suspense filled and that is my favorite type of read. When you put those two aspects together it makes for a great story.
Could you describe your writing process for us? How long did it take to write your first project?
It took me 6 months to actually write Entrepreneur. I found that typing it rather than writing in my notebook, the ideas come faster.
What are three adjectives you could use to describe your writing style?
Explosive. Visual. Contemporary.
