Adult Beginner Violinist | 1-2-3 Months Progress Video

Adult Beginner Violinist | 1-2-3 Months Progress Video
I started to play the violin at age 26, after dreaming about it for over ten years.

In the first three months, I worked through my first violin book and I learnt to play with all four fingers in the basic first position.

I want to show you that adults too can learn to play the violin.
Bottom line is: you can learn anything you set your mind to!

Thank you so much for watching!

  1. Hello! Did you have any sort of experience playing any musical instruments prior to taking this on? I’m sorry if this has been asked & answered, already.
Oh! And how many hours per day did you commit to practicing? Thanks!
p.s. Were you learning to read music at the same time? That’s all for now……I think!

  2. Hello! My Mam gave me her violin that she had when she was about 16, I’ve been learning for about 3 months now, I’m 12! I’m also getting lessons really soon! I’m so excited! (By the way you’re really beautiful and your progress is amazing, you really inspire me to keep going with the violin even at times when I feel like giving up)

  3. Love your channel, Marijke!

I just bought my first violin (Yamaha sv 200), after dreaming with playing this instrument since childhood (I’m almost 28 years old right now D:). I will continue watching your videos to remember that, with practice, I will be able to do it.

    Thank you so much 🙂

  4. your progress is impressive! i am 26 and i want to start taking lessons. i have been dreaming about it for years too haha i was wondering how many days a week and for how many hours your teacher taught you and how long you practice after your lessons

  5. Hi , I’m 58 years old wen I started classes . Now I have 10 months of class , not easy to play d and change to C natural , I can’t open my fingers ……

  6. this video gives me hope. Im a teenager and i started learning the violin 3 weeks ago..The first place that i went to said that i was too old to be learning the violin 🙁 but luckily i found a new teacher..he said that i was a quick learner which really kept me going.

  7. I had My first violin lesson three days ago😊 i hope i can be as good as you in a couple of months🤗 You play so beautiful😍😍

  8. Excellent video content! Sorry for chiming in, I would love your thoughts. Have you ever tried – Riddleagan Master Violinist Remedy (just google it)? It is an awesome one off product for playing violin like a master minus the normal expense. Ive heard some extraordinary things about it and my cousin at very last got great results with it.

  9. Ok but you must have done the learning to read music first I see that you are following sheet music? This is the hardest part of learning a instrument. How long did this take for you? it can take years to be able to follow and read fast enough to play with sheet music? I think this is critical. And of course keeping time is part of the process. Keep up the commitment it’s a blast when it all comes together!

  10. While this is inspirational to me as a 30 year old just now picking up the violin, perhaps you should add a disclaimer so people don’t expect to make progress as fast as you? I mean, you definitely already knew how to read and maybe write sheet music, which puts you at least 1 to 2 years ahead of a true beginner. Which also means you probably already play another instrument.

Your progress is great though. I think it’ll take most people an extra year to sound like how you sounded after 2 months though haha.

  11. First of all she needs to relax her pinky needs to collapse her hand and it’s to tilt the bow toward her more instead of away from her she should be seeing the wood of the bone not the strings she also needs to make more vibration and play Closer to the bridge and use her elbow not her wrist

  12. I have played violin for 1/5-3 years, and stopped now for 4 years and I’m still on a really better level than you that shows me that I really haven’t forgot much, you gave me some motivation with your video. Move on, violin takes a lot of time to do it properly

  13. I’m 26 years old and like you, I’ve been dreaming of learning how to play the violin but never got a chance to do so until now. I’m still choosing a violin and am kind of nervous about it but watching your video really motivated me!
I’m hoping to be able to progress as well as you did! 🙂

  14. Hello Marijke, I know you receive many questions, please, I would like to know the name of your music school? Where is it?

  15. Hi! You are learning very fast and you look so happy playing the violin, it’s very inspiring! Thanks for that! Your teacher seems to be amazing!

You motivated me to get violin lessons too! And I got my first lesson yesterday. It has always been my dream, like you. All was great but my teacher seemed to be very annoyed by me and my personal comprehension. And a bit agressive. I don’t know what to do, cause I’m sooo disappointed right now. I’ve already paid her for 24 lessons, and I don’t want to be scared of her and being disgusted by the violin ’cause of her. There’s no possibility to reclaim the money. So if you have any advices, I would be glad to read them! Thanks 🙂

  16. I’m 35 and yesterday I took my first violin lesson !!!
If in a year I succeed in what you’ve done in 3 months, I’ll be happy already
